CHALLENGE

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, DESAN Research Solutions B.V. relied on a proprietary SAN with iSCSI connections to Hyper-V cluster nodes. The infrastructure was characterized by low performance, high maintenance costs, and extra points of failure. In addition, the proprietary SAN and software did not allow the company to upgrade the hardware easily.

Since DESAN Research Solutions B.V. had previously implemented StarWind Virtual Tape Library (VTL) into its IT environment and was pleased with its operation, it turned its attention to VSAN to address the issues.
