StarWind was the most cost-effective, reliable solution we found based on independent research and feedback in several IT communities.

Simplify Technology used the StarWind solution to optimize the infrastructure of its client company, which is a large provider of industrial materials. Before StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN) deployment, the client originally had an IT infrastructure built around a single SAN and multiple standalone hosts with a varying number of different hypervisors and Hyper-V on top. With isolated standalone hosts, there were no required fault tolerance (FT) and high availability (HA). In this regard, the company could not prevent downtime in case of failure of the systems or hardware components. As it is known, downtime is extremely expensive in the industrial business.
In this situation, the company had a 3-2-1 design of its IT infrastructure known as the “Inverted Pyramid of Doom.” With this architecture, multiple hosts in a cluster are connected to the NAS back-end storage. So, virtualization hosts are completely dependent on the network, which in turn depends entirely on the NAS. Such a system is expensive and inflexible.
Simplify Technology tried to solve an existing problem with the help of a VMware vSAN solution. But it could not satisfy HA requirements and turned out to be expensive for SMB.
Simplify Technology has chosen StarWind VSAN because it could be easily deployed on ultra-fast Enterprise SSD storage at an affordable cost.
StarWind VSAN resolved the “Inverted Pyramid of Doom” problem providing HA and reliable shared storage. Thus, the company managed to avoid a single point of failure (SPOF) and get rid of the fragile foundation of its IT infrastructure by ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
The StarWind solution proves its effectiveness even in extreme conditions. Shortly after deploying the new server/storage/network infrastructure, there was a lightning strike at the company’s operation building which took out one of the new 10G switches in the midst of adding Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) infrastructure. As the company managed to migrate the VMs to the new infrastructure thanks to a failover cluster created with StarWind VSAN, the business continued to run with no downtime. At the same time, the company was able to replace the damaged hardware. Without StarWind VSAN, this extreme situation would have led to enormous financial losses.
