Ryman LTD ensures uninterrupted access to its retail applications by creating a hyperconverged infrastructure around StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA), Ryman LTD ran its IT infrastructure on a Hyper-V cluster with shared storage. This setup provided flexibility and supported high availability, but it also depended on separate shared storage hardware. Over time, this storage became outdated and harder to justify. It increased complexity and required additional costs for maintenance, support, and future upgrades.
Ryman LTD wanted to simplify the infrastructure while keeping all key benefits, such as live migration and high uptime. Solving this challenge without a software-defined approach would have required buying new storage hardware, which went against the company’s goal to streamline the environment.
StarWind HCI Appliance definitely satisfies all of our requirements and allows us to live-migrate VMs to other hosts, giving us maximum possible uptime.

SOLUTION
Ryman LTD selected StarWind HCI Appliance after intensive testing showed stable and expected performance. StarWind allowed the company to remove the legacy shared network-attached storage while keeping a clustered Hyper-V environment. Storage is now built into the cluster, which reduces hardware dependency and simplifies management. The new setup fully supports live migration of virtual machines between hosts. This ensures maximum uptime during maintenance or unexpected issues.
The solution meets all technical requirements and provides the required flexibility. The IT team can now manage the infrastructure more easily and plan future growth. Ryman LTD expects to expand its server estate by adding more StarWind clusters as business needs grow.
