RAM Disks

Some iSCSI targets allow you to create and export virtual RAM Disks — allocated server RAM blocks, which the client treats as local hard drives. The speed of the RAM-disk is much faster than physical disk, although RAM disks are volatile storage that don’t retain data after the computer is turned off. Typically, RAM-drives are used to work with temporary information such as cache, swap files or decrypted versions of protected files, etc. RAM Disks are also idea for use as high performance storage for temporary workspaces.

StarWind iSCSI SAN fully supports the use of RAM disks.
