  1. Q. Can I update installed software to the newest version?

    A. If you have purchased a maintenance agreement, you will receive software updates for the year.


  2. Q. Can I upgrade a software license?

    A. Yes. If you are currently under a maintenance agreement, please contact our customer support department to learn how. If you do not have a current maintenance agreement, please contact our sales department at sales@starwindsoftware.com to submit a request.

  1. Q. How much do StarWind products cost?

    A. Please visit our Licensing and Pricing page to determine which StarWind edition is correct for your needs. You may also get pricing information and request a license key by contacting one of our sales representatives via email at sales@starwindsoftware.com or by contacting a local reseller.

4. Payments and license provisions

  1. Q. Which payment methods are accepted?

    A. We accept the following payment methods:

    • Credit cards (including MasterCard, Visa or American Express) Paypal, via our secure payment processing partner.
    • If you would like to pay using Check, Wire Transfer, Debit Cards (Switch/Maestro, Solo), please contact the appropriate office or reseller.

     


  • Q. How is the software distributed? Will I receive a CD-ROM or shrink-wrapped product?

    A. We have adopted the Electronic Software Distribution (ESD) model. Consequently software is available only via HTTP download. We do not distribute any software on CD, DVD or as a shrink wrapped product. The ESD model is the best way to stay up to date with the numerous software releases made available to you. You will receive a link to your software download once we have received payment.


  • Q. Can I evaluate a product for free, before purchasing it?

    A. Yes, all of our software have trials available and we offer some free software as well. Click here to view all products on one page.


  • Q. Can I get a refund?

    A. Refunds are issued according to our Refund Policy.


5. Software maintenance period (support and updates)

  1. Q. What is software maintenance?

    A. StarWind offers extended Annual Software Maintenance (ASM) to all our customers. StarWind also offers 30-day complimentary installation support via email as well as help through the installation process.

    In most cases, the requests will be answered within 24 hours (often within 12 hours). Annual Software Maintenance subscription owners will receive responses according to the service level policy. If your ASM subscription has expired, please contact your sales representative or submit a request to sales@starwindsoftware.com to renew your subscription.


  1. Q. What happens with my software maintenance when I upgrade the license?

    A. You may upgrade your license as often as necessary during the life of your maintenance agreement.


  1. Q. What happens after the maintenance is expired? Can I use the software without active software maintenance?

    A. After the maintenance agreement has expired, customers are no longer eligible for support and upgrades. You may continue to use the software without product support however you will not be eligible for upgrades or support. We recommend purchasing a new 12 month contract, please contact your sales representative or submit a request to sales@starwindsoftware.com to renew your subscription.


  1. Q. What if my maintenance expired some time ago? Do I need to pay for the past period if I want to extend my maintenance?

    A. Maintenance can be reinstated by purchasing a new 12 month contract however you will need to pay a license renewal fee for being more than 3 months overdue. Please contact your sales representative or submit a request to sales@starwindsoftware.com to renew your subscription.


  1. Q. Why should I renew my software maintenance?

    A. Active software maintenance has the following benefits:

    • You have the most updated and fresh version of the software with all new features.
    • Our Support Department is always ready to help you with installation, configuration, usage and upgrade of your software.

  1. Q. How much does it cost to renew my software maintenance?

    A. Renewal of software maintenance may be purchased at 20% of net purchase price.

6. Licensing

  1. Q. What are the conditions for an Academic License?

    A. The following organizations are eligible for an Academic License:

    • Educational institutions: Public or private K-12, vocational schools, correspondence schools, junior colleges, colleges, universities, or scientific or technical schools that are accredited by a national accrediting agency.
    • Administrative offices & boards of education: Provincial, district, regional, national and state administrative offices and authorities of the Educational Institutions defined above.
    • Public libraries
    • Public museums
    • Home-school programs
    • Research institutes that are affiliated with an accredited university.
    • Teaching hospitals that are affiliated with an accredited university.
    • Training and teaching organizations that are accredited by a statutory government qualifications body.

    Proof of accreditation or affiliation may be required when ordering an Academic License.

     


  1. Q. Would additional licenses be required if multiple instances of the software were to be installed on a single server?

    A. No. Each StarWind license covers the physical storage server on which it is installed. (The Enterprise Server and High Availability offering include a license for two physical nodes).


7. End User License Agreement

  1. Q. Our legal department would like to make some changes to your End User License Agreement (EULA). Is that ok?

    A. There may be some issues that are not covered here or on the rest of this page. If so, please feel free to contact us.


8. Customizations and professional services

    A. No. Please contact our customer support department with any special requests.
