StarWind Pricing and Product Licensing
INTRODUCTION
This document provides an overview of the licensing and pricing for the different editions of StarWind software.StarWind Software develops and sells storage virtualization and iSCSI storage software. StarWind is an advanced and powerful iSCSI SAN software that turns any industry-standard x86 or x64 Windows Server into a fully-functional SAN or networked storage.
The more advanced editions of StarWind offer enterprise-level features including:
- True Active-Active High Availability - Synchronous Mirroring with Automatic Failover
- Failback with Fast Synchronization
- CDP & Snapshots
- Remote (Asynchronous) Replication over a WAN
- Advanced High-Speed Caching
StarWind works over existing Ethernet / IP network and allows users to leverage existing servers and storage resources.

HOW ARE STARWIND EDITIONS ARE LICENSED
1. StarWind Server: A separate StarWind Server license is required per each server designated as the storage controller where StarWind will be installed. StarWind Server permits 4 concurrent iSCSI client connections and is limited 2TB of storage capacity. The licenses includes 1 year of maintenance.2. StarWind Enterprise Server: StarWind Enterprise Server license is required for the server designated as the primary storage controller and includes unlimited concurrent iSCSI client connections and a limit of 4TB of storage capacity. One Enterprise Server license permits installation only on one storage node. Please note that this license does not allow the use of two storage servers and requires a second license for configuring data mirroring or remote replication from the primary to the secondary node. The licenses includes 1 year of maintenance.
3. StarWind Enterprise Unlimited: StarWind Enterprise Unlimited license is required for the server designated as the primary storage controller and includes unlimited client connections and unlimited storage capacity. The Enterprise Server license permits installation on a secondary node for the purpose of mirroring or replication from the primary node. Please note that this license is not meant to allow the use of two active storage servers but only permits an active-passive configuration for mirroring or replication from the primary to the secondary node. The licenses includes 1 year of maintenance.
4. StarWind Enterprise HA: StarWind Enterprise HA license includes unlimited iSCSI client connections with 1TB storage capacity for smaller storage capacity environments that require Active-Active High Availability but do not have a large amount of stored data. The Enterprise HA license permits installation on a secondary node for the purpose of mirroring or replication from the primary node. The licenses includes 1 year of maintenance.
5. StarWind Enterprise HA Unlimited: StarWind Enterprise HA Unlimited license includes unlimited iSCSI client connections with unlimited storage capacity. The Enterprise HA Unlimited license permits installation on a secondary node for the purpose of mirroring or replication from the primary node. The licenses includes 1 year of maintenance.
LICENSE KEY ACTIVATION
StarWind uses a license key to activate software and add-on features. The licensing mechanism does not require activation over the internet – license keys function independently to authorize the activation of a single StarWind Server license.Free Technical Support
All customers purchasing product license without ASM can still receive thirty (30) days of free technical support as defined in the End-User Licensing Agreement (EULA) shipped with the product. Free support is provided via email and the online web site forum on a best-effort basis. The thirty (30) day period starts on the purchase date of product licenses.ASM technical support plans.
