While leading cloud storage providers offer cost-efficient object storage like Amazon S3 and Glacier, Azure Blob Storage, Google Nearline and Google Coldline to accumulate the “cold” data, and many backup vendors offer different solutions for managing backups and configuring cloud synchronization, it still remains difficult for IT staff to select and deploy the proper software or hardware, and configure separate components to operate as a single system.

Additionally, most backup solutions do not offer a “smart” data de-staging for offloading backups first to faster and more expensive storage tier and then to slower and more cost-efficient one.

StarWind Cloud VTL for AWS and Veeam is a unique solution seamlessly integrating into any backup environment and significantly enhancing the backup process by increasing the tape backup speed allowing it to fit the backup window.

It conjoins with both performance and capacity optimized object storage like Amazon S3 and Glacier, ultimately adding the cost-efficient “cloud tier” to the backup infrastructure without the need for additional software and ensuring compliance with the “3-2-1” backup rule..

StarWind Cloud VTL allows implementing Disk-to-Disk-to-Cloud (D2D2C) backup strategy providing higher flexibility and cost-efficiency by replacing local tape drives with inexpensive cloud storage. StarWind Cloud VTL is a Veeam Ready solution and allows to “tier” backups between cloud storage with different performance and efficiency features for keeping the low cost per GB without affecting RTO.
