Thanks to StarWind vSAN, our uptime seems comparable to our
hardware SANs and doesn’t appear to be any compromises.

PROBLEM

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (vSAN) deployment, D-J Engineering Inc. used HPE LeftHand and NAS units with Hyper-V on top. This type of storage didn’t allow for any scalability, so the company could not grow with any sort of cost-effectiveness. D-J Engineering Inc. was looking for a shared storage solution reasonably priced to sweep away any hardware limitations.

SOLUTION

D-J Engineering Inc. has chosen StarWind vSAN as it allows to get high application uptime using existing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. This provides a means of increasing life span and driving down overhead. Being completely hardware agnostic, the company grew from having cost and hardware limitations to almost no limitations. For now, D-J Engineering Inc. has no issues with IOPS or resiliency. Saving around a few hundred thousand dollars, the company could get an IT infrastructure performance to be on par with what would be expected of enterprise- rade SANs. In the future, D-J Engineering Inc. is getting ready to double a StarWind deployment with 2 high availability (HA) stacks.
