Monster Digital ensures continuous availability for critical business applications by deploying a two-node failover cluster with StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Monster Digital built a new site from scratch and deployed a two-node cluster based on Microsoft Hyper-V. The environment had no shared storage or SAN, which made it impossible to configure a proper failover cluster for virtual machines (VMs). The company required a reliable way for both hosts to access the same storage in order to support VM failover and maintain high availability (HA).
Several alternative solutions were tested, but none provided the required functionality or a straightforward deployment model for shared storage in a two-node setup.
The resulting infrastructure, powered by StarWind, keeps our mission-critical virtual machines running at all times. The professional support team is truly amazing. They monitor our StarWind connections 24/7 and alert whenever there are any issues.

SOLUTION
Monster Digital deployed StarWind VSAN to create shared storage between the two Hyper-V hosts. StarWind synchronized terabytes of local storage across both servers and exposed it as multiple highly available iSCSI LUNs. This enabled the company to build a proper failover cluster with full VM high availability. If one host becomes unavailable, VMs automatically fail over to the remaining node. The environment also allows administrators to patch production hosts without service interruption.
In addition, StarWind ProActive Premium Support assisted with the iSCSI configuration and now monitors the environment 24/7, proactively alerting the team about any issues and ensuring stable cluster operation.
