CHALLENGE

Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Journey Freight International Inc. was operating on an outdated HP StorageWorks SAN that no longer met the performance or reliability demands of its growing business. The system delivered low IOPS and created a single point of failure, putting core operations at risk. Downtime was becoming increasingly unacceptable, especially as the company’s logistics and freight operations required continuous system availability.

Journey Freight International Inc. needed a solution that could deliver both high availability (HA) and improved performance without requiring a complete overhaul of its infrastructure.

StarWind VSAN has been working flawlessly for us since we deployed it in 2018. With StarWind, we have much better IOPS and high availability using a cluster of 3 VSANs for greater redundancy than on a typical hardware SAN.

SOLUTION

Journey Freight International Inc. chose StarWind VSAN because of its balance of affordability, scalability, and robust HA features. By deploying a three-node StarWind VSAN cluster, the company eliminated the single point of failure and significantly increased overall IOPS. The setup brought greater resilience and flexibility than a traditional hardware SAN could offer.

Since its deployment in 2018, the system has run smoothly. Importantly, StarWind VSAN also helped the company avoid major disruption during an attempted cyber incident, preserving system integrity and ensuring rapid recovery. The company continues to rely on the solution today, with no need for further expansion thanks to its ongoing transition to SaaS-based applications.
