InfinityIT ensures continuous service availability by deploying a high-availability cluster around StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), InfinityIT ran a mixed virtualization stack. The main platform was VMware, with some Hyper-V hosts. Earlier, the company also used Xen with DRBD for replication. This design worked but required deep specialist knowledge. DRBD and Xen increased operational complexity and support risks. Internal staff had to spend more time on maintenance and troubleshooting. Scaling and lifecycle management were not straightforward.
Vendor support from larger providers did not offer the required level of proactive care. For an SME, maintaining high availability (HA) and expert coverage at all times was difficult. The infrastructure was functional, but costly to operate and hard to support efficiently in the long term.
The StarWind product does everything we need it to. But the real gem of the StarWind lineup is their ProActive Support. It’s exceptional. We feel safe in StarWind’s hands; it’s difficult to put a price on peace of mind.

SOLUTION
InfinityIT chose StarWind VSAN because it allowed the company to build HA storage across its servers. StarWind VSAN integrated smoothly with VMware and also supported Hyper-V where needed. The software replaced the complex Xen + DRBD design with a simpler, software-defined storage layer. Management became easier and did not require niche expertise. High availability is now handled at the storage level with synchronous replication between nodes.
The key benefit is StarWind ProActive Premium Support. Engineers monitor the environment and resolve issues early. This level of vendor engagement is critical for the company. The new platform meets all current requirements and is now InfinityIT’s primary on-premises HA server solution.
