CHALLENGE

Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Griffco Partners relied on a Synology SAN as the primary shared storage platform. While functional, the existing SAN could not deliver the storage performance required to meet the company s backup Recovery Point Objective (RPO). Achieving the necessary performance would have required replacing the system with a significantly more expensive enterprise SAN.

Griffco Partners needed a cost-effective alternative that would improve storage performance and eliminate the need for additional dedicated SAN hardware.

We went with all-flash in our StarWind storage solution and were able to greatly exceed our backup RPO because of the increased performance. StarWind VSAN is super easy to set up, and support was great.

SOLUTION

Griffco Partners deployed StarWind VSAN in an allflash hyperconverged configuration, replacing the legacy Synology SAN with software-defined shared storage running directly on the cluster nodes. Chosen for its combination of functionality and value, StarWind VSAN provided the performance required to dramatically improve backup operations, allowing the company to greatly exceed its backup RPO targets.

The resulting highly available cluster has proven stable and reliable, consistently meeting or surpassing operational requirements. The deployment was straightforward, and StarWind support played an important role in ensuring a smooth implementation, enabling the IT team to modernize its infrastructure without investing in costly enterprise SAN hardware.
