COFED ensures business operations 24/7 by deploying a StarWind vSAN-based high availability cluster

PUBLISHED/UPDATED: November 24th, 2022

Since 2018, with StarWind, we have never experienced
service interruptions. We are very satisfied.

PROBLEM

Before installing StarWind Virtual SAN (vSAN), COFED had only one data server. The institution experienced many problems in case the data center broke down. The work stopped for several hours or even a day while waiting for the data restoration. So, COFED needed badly a virtual shared storage solution to create a high availability (HA) cluster.

SOLUTION

COFED selected StarWind vSAN for its stability and performance for data synchronization. Using vSAN, the institution deployed a 2-node HA cluster where StarWind manages and synchronizes the disks of the first and second nodes. When the services of one of the nodes are not available, the system switches directly to the second available node where all the disks are managed by StarWind vSAN. As a result, all services remain available and data is always up to date, so users can continue to work smoothly. With StarWind, COFED has no service interruptions even during operating system updates. In the future, the institution plans to use StarWind vSAN for deploying another HA cluster.
