Amethyst Academies Trust ensures 24/7 availability of SIMS and other critical school apps by moving to hyperconvergence with StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA)
CHALLENGE
Before implementing StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA), Amethyst Academies Trust was running a four-node HPE Hyper-V environment deployed under the Building Schools for the Future program. Over time, the infrastructure became outdated and could not meet growing demand across the network. Storage capacity, memory, and CPU performance were limited due to hardware age. Everyday operations, including school information management system (SIMS) usage and system deployments, were slowing down.
The Trust needed a modern platform, but upgrading the existing system would not solve the core performance and scalability issues in a cost-effective way.
We have already had comments from one of our partners that they haven’t seen a speed like this within a school environment. The performance provided by StarWind HCI Appliance is excellent.

SOLUTION
Amethyst Academies Trust chose StarWind HCI Appliance to move to hyperconvergence and obtain a high-performance IT infrastructure with no restrictions on flexibility and scalability. The new platform provided modern compute and storage resources in a compact, easy-to-manage setup.
Performance improved significantly, with partners noting unusually high speeds for a school environment. The infrastructure now runs smoothly, supports daily workloads without delays, and gives the Trust confidence to involve StarWind in future growth projects.
