Burnham Holdings, Inc. ensures continuous manufacturing operations by building a fault-tolerant IT infrastructure StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Burnham Holdings, Inc. relied on a Hyper-V cluster backed by a traditional SAN, which had served its purpose for years but was nearing the end of its lifecycle. It was time to upgrade the hardware and modernize the virtualization platform. The company decided to move to VMware ESXi for better flexibility and performance. However, VMware vSAN was not a feasible option due to its high cost and complexity. Burnham Holdings, Inc. needed a shared storage solution that would provide high availability (HA) and fault tolerance without adding financial overhead. Finding the right technology that combined reliability and expert support became the main challenge.
StarWind VSAN allowed for easy upgrade to a multi-node cluster without one particular point of failure (storage, network, compute). StarWind is definitely a front-runner again with the success we have had thus far!

SOLUTION
Burnham Holdings chose StarWind VSAN because of its excellent customer feedback, competitive pricing, and strong technical support. StarWind enabled the company to easily upgrade to a multi-node VMware ESXi cluster with no single point of failure across storage, network, or compute layers. The deployment and migration process were smooth, thanks to StarWind’s responsive and knowledgeable engineers. Since implementing StarWind VSAN, the infrastructure has run efficiently. The solution provided significant savings on both licensing and support, extending the IT budget by nearly two years. Burnham Holdings, Inc. now considers StarWind HCI Appliance (HCA) and a fully managed deployment for future upgrades.
