BizIT Australia ensures uninterrupted business operations by building highly available shared storage across its hosts with StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), BizIT Australia operated an HPE-based single-host environment that limited infrastructure resilience and flexibility. The company used both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, but workloads depended heavily on local storage. This created operational risk during upgrades. Host reboots meant service interruption because virtual machines (VMs) were tied to specific hardware.
Traditional SAN solutions were considered, but they were too costly and complex for an internal environment.
StarWind VSAN gave us the freedom to reboot hosts on the fly without worrying about vMotion or where the VM was stored. The infrastructure works well, and there is no downtime experienced

SOLUTION
BizIT Australia deployed StarWind VSAN to create HA shared storage from existing HPE server resources. StarWind replicated storage between hosts, enabling storage redundancy and continuous VM availability. This allowed administrators to reboot hosts at any time without worrying about VM location or performing manual migrations. The solution integrated smoothly with both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V, meeting cross-platform requirements. Implementation was straightforward and did not require complex hardware.
Since deployment, the infrastructure has operated reliably with no downtime. StarWind VSAN delivered the needed balance of simplicity, performance, and cost efficiency, and BizIT Australia plans to continue using it internally and recommending it to clients.
