CHALLENGE

Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Take One Systems, Inc. operated a Hyper-V cluster with asynchronous replication to protect its workloads. While functional, the setup carried a significant drawback: replication intervals created the risk of data loss whenever a failover was needed. Native Hyper-V Replica and Veeam replication both relied on snapshot frequency, meaning that in the event of an outage, recent data could be lost. For a company that needed reliable uptime and data integrity across both Hyper-V and Proxmox environments, this was not an acceptable compromise. The IT team tested alternative approaches but found them either too expensive or lacking in features.

StarWind VSAN had the best price/feature balance. It allowed us to create active-active redundant storage.

SOLUTION

Take One Systems, Inc. chose StarWind VSAN because it provided true active-active redundant storage rather than asynchronous replication, eliminating data loss risks and ensuring both nodes always held up-to-date copies. In addition to its strong technical capabilities, one of the key reasons for choosing StarWind was the support: beyond offering extensive setup documentation for different deployment scenarios, the support team guided them through installation and activation and validated the final configuration. The solution integrated smoothly with their existing infrastructure and delivered the required performance without major hardware changes. Since implementation, the environment has run without failures or errors, and the company is considering adopting StarWind HCI Appliance in the future.
