CHALLENGE

Before StarWind Virtual SAN (vSAN) deployment, Wyatt Early Harris Wheeler LLP was using a NetApp SAN in combination with VMware as its hypervisor. As the NetApp SAN reached the end of its life, the company wanted to downsize its on-site storage and move a portion of its storage to the cloud. However, finding a suitable solution proved to be quite difficult. The company needed a cost-effective alternative that could run on just two VMware host servers, as opposed to the three required by VMware vSAN, to avoid breaking the bank.

StarWind vSAN was the only solution we found that could run on 2 VMware hosts. It works great and there is no noticeable drop in performance.

SOLUTION

Wyatt Early Harris Wheeler LL decided to replace its aging NetApp SAN with the StarWind vSAN solution. The implementation was smooth, and the benefits were evident almost immediately. By opting for StarWind, the company managed to cut down costs significantly, spending roughly half of what it paid for the NetApp SAN six years ago.

The resulting infrastructure met all the requirements, users experienced no drop in performance, and the IT team was pleased with the enhanced efficiency and reliability of the new setup. The team at Wyatt Early Harris Wheeler LLP praised the vendor’s responsiveness, knowledge, and helpfulness throughout the process, from initial inquiries to post-sales support.
