Area Agency on Aging Region 9 ensures 24/7 access to critical applications by building a hyperconverged infrastructure with StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN)
CHALLENGE
Before deploying StarWind Virtual SAN (VSAN), Area Agency on Aging Region 9 (AAA9) operated a mix of standalone Microsoft Hyper-V hosts and physical servers that lacked high availability (HA) and workload mobility. The existing infrastructure could not provide failover protection or live migration capabilities, creating potential service disruptions during maintenance activities. Building an HA Hyper-V environment using traditional SAN-based architectures would have required additional hardware investments and increased operational complexity.
AAA9 needed a cost-effective solution that could modernize its virtualization platform while simplifying management across its server infrastructure.
StarWind offered the best Hyper-V hyperconverged solution by offering all hardware and software in a single solution.

SOLUTION
AAA9 implemented StarWind VSAN in a two-node Hyper-V hyperconverged configuration, combining compute and storage resources within the same hosts. By synchronizing storage between the servers, StarWind VSAN enabled HA and live migration capabilities that were not possible with the previous standalone environment.
The resulting infrastructure spans two Hyper-V hosts, providing resilient shared storage, simplified management, and continuous service availability. The solution fully satisfies AAA9 s operational requirements while delivering a reliable foundation for future growth.
