Re: StarWind 5.0 HA/Failover and Windows Updates

Matt, Failover switching will be performed automatically, but the synchronization process is still to be initiated manually. The reason for that is that it is possible to synchronize the highly available targets in both directions. Administrator's participation is required to avoid a scenario where ...

Re: Starwind and windows 2000

Toni,

I am afraid that there is no version compatible with Windows 2000 :(. Windows 2000 is not supported anymore in the latest versions of StarWind. As for the older versions, they are not develped anymore.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks.

Re: super slow performance with free version

Creating a NIC teaming or an MPIO configuration should help, however, noone can garantee that.

I would suggest using direct cabling for the testing purposes to avoid the scenario where a network switch can cause this bottleneck issue.

Thanks

Re: ESXi 4.0 and ESXi 3.5.U4

Glad the issue is resolved.

Yes, this happens because Vmware cannot actually find the correct signature for the mounted device. That's why changing the LVM resignature to 1 solves this problem.

Thanks.

Re: super slow performance with free version

Vmkernel is a little bit different. It can work much faster than even some physical hardware. If it is possible, please try to use another network switch to test the noetwork performance and utilization. Many SOHO switches proved to be bottlenecks when using StarWind over those. For instance, I've g...

Re: Disk Reserved issue!

Building an MS cluster on a StarWind lun should cause no issues, however, bear in mid this post http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/ ... t1392.html if you are planning to make multiple concurrent iSCSI connections to the same starwind lun.

Re: Mirror and Snapshots

howesh,

Yes, this is possible. You can set up any local or remote iSCSI lun as an active or a passive mirror, not just an image file, including Disk Bridge device (physical disk over iSCSI), Snapshot or another mirror device.

Thanks.

Did you try iometer? What is the network utilization when read/write operations to target occur? Did you enable Jumbo frames support for your network?

Thanks.

Re: Help! I lost a whole partition/target

That may be related to ESX itself. Try to change LVMresignature parameter to "1" in the advanced options of Vmware. This could help.

Thanks.

Could you provide some more details? What build of StarWind? What Initiator? Did you check the log files? What Oses on the Initiator and the Client?

Thanks.

Not yet, but will be shortly.

Briefly, there will be a brand new GUI with lots of enhancements as well as core improvements. And the main release note is that it will finally support HA iSCSI targets!

Thanks
