Hi. I'm Cristian from Chile.
I hope u can help me.
Let me see if i understand right, the free version released in may 20 2009 is no longer provided, instead the new "trial version" when expires turn into a "free version"??.
I'm starting with virtualization, and i want to make my first failover cluster + csv + starwind (free).
I have to make some tests so i can deploy a virtualization solution at my work, if it works, i'll can recomend buy another server for mirroring and replication of the Shared Storage (StarWind Enterprise HA 2TB Edition??).
i'll apreciate if you could tell me if the trial version turns into the "free version" after 30 days, and there is a way to check if i'm using any of the enterprise features, so if the 30 day time expires, i'll not have problems?, can i set the trial as free version from the start?.
The free version supports shared cluster volumes for hyper-v??
Many thanks in advance.
Greetings from Chile.

Hi Cristian,
The StarWind free version is no longer provided, that's right. For now, only trial version is available, it includes all enterprise features. Trial periode is of 30 days, after what it doesn't turn into free version (since we haven't a free version). After trial time is expired all features will be blocked and created targets not accecible untill you turn to using commercial licence.
StarWind Enterprise HA Edition feats the configuration you plan to implant and supports csv volumes for Hyper-V.
When you download the trial version from our site, you get a 30 days trial licence and our account managers will contact you to propose what better can feat your needs.
Thank you for choosing StarWind.

1) StarWind Free program is discontinued for now. B/c of the marketing reasons. So now there's no way to get free version in automatic mode (like it was possible before).

2) We'll do bring back "fire-and-forget" StarWind Free immediately with StarWind V5.5 release (soon, VERY soon). List of features is still subject to discuss.

3) For now if you need Free version please drop us a message to support@ or sales@starwindsoftware.com and we'll provide you with a name-signed NFR (Non-For-Resale) time-limited version key.

Hope this helped :)

Anton

Thanks for your quick reply, i'll do what you suggest.
you helped me a lot.
I hope that i can implement the failover cluster with hyper-v, and then convince my boss to implement the redundant starwind iscsi storage with the StarWind
Enterprise HA 2TB Edition. (I think that implement and convince my boos will take more that 30 days :D ), for the meantime i'll ask for a NFR to make all the testing (thanks for this option).
The offering of a full licence to Microsoft certified people in Virtualization will be active till march?, i'm planning to make the certification this summer (Here in Chile is Spring now)
Greetings.

Delayed. We're a bit busy with our mission-critical tasks. So with V5.7 or V5.6 post-fix.

Hi,
are you ever going to produce a free version again. The button sayint "Free" takes you to a general page where a demo is available or trial.
You said that it was looking good for coming out in march but still no indication of it yet.
Thanks,
Jus
