Re: Cannot add Starwind as SCVMM 2012 provider

I am providing the IP address of the iSCSI Server (which is on the same subnet)
Is SMI-S agent installed on the same host with the iSCSI Server?
You should provide the IP address of the SMI-S agent, NOT of the iSCSI Server.

Re: Cannot add Starwind as SCVMM 2012 provider

Thank you for your reply. Is working with the current SMI-S download feasible at this time, or is it that it does not work with VMM 2012? It should work with VMM 2012. In that version exists only limited support. No assign to host, only one concrete pool. No target creation. I do not understand wha...

Re: Cannot add Starwind as SCVMM 2012 provider

twalters, It seems that you have no any already created target on StarWind or have some other mistake in configuration of SMI-S agent. You should to create minimum ONE target manually. This version of SMI-S can't create targets automatically. Among other things, I suggest you to wait for a new build...

Re: Sharing a single target to EWF-protected Windows initiators

digitalis99,

Please, try to install Windows directly on IBV Growing Image -- skip the steps concerned with ImageFile device.
And then go to the ROW mode.

Re: Sharing a single target to EWF-protected Windows initiators

It's called experimental features. A lot of companies do this (including VMware) and I don't see any issues with this approach... The difference being they flag the experimental features as such in their GUI, release notes, or documentation (or all of the above). ROW modes are undocumented for now....

Re: Sharing a single target to EWF-protected Windows initiators

digitalis99, When new initiator connects to the target with IBV device that works in one of ROW modes, we automaticaly create a linked clone device. This issue (boot failure) was caused by the fact that we do reset of disk signature when 1) we mounting a snapshot in readonly mode and 2) when we crea...

Re: Sharing a single target to EWF-protected Windows initiators

Hello, digitalis99!

We've found the reason of boot failures in ROW mode. Please wait for a few days until our QA team will test the update.

Re: SMI-S Multiple Disk/Device Path in SCVMM

I know that the SMI-S agent is bound to a specific port. Is it possible to run multiple instances of the SMI-S agent, with each instance on a separate port pointing to a different drive? Could there be some other type of workaround to this? This seems like a serious limitation, at least in my opini...

Hello - the version is VMM 2012 SP1 CTP2 (version 3.1.3010.0). If you need any more info let me know. Thanks, Joe Joe, It will be nice if you collect CIM-XML command tracing for us. Look here for more information on how to get it ("Enable SCX CIM-XML command tracing" point): http://blogs....

Dear Anderson, It is impossible to estimate release date due to that fact that development process tightly connected with Microsoft SC VMM development team. We are working hard together with Microsoft to release the product as quickly ...
