Re: Current HCI industry highest performance: 26M IOPS questions

1) You're absolutely correct, it's PCIe bus which is a limiting factor. We use 100 GbE NICs just because we need to unify our BoMs and stick with the smallest amount of the varying hardware components as possible. Software-only customers don't have this issue. 2) Nope, it's not what you should be pu...

Re: RESERVE RELEASE commands emulation.

Q: What file system do you want on top of your shared block storage? See, it can't be NTFS, XFS or whatever local file system you think about. You absolutely need something "special" with the distributed lock mechanism. It could be a full-blown clustered file system like Oracle's Clustered...

Re: need help installing

I guess you can just follow the instructions during running starwind.exe (installation package) and next you can read StarWind configuration (English).rtf. It completely describes how to use StarWind and edit StarWind.conf (configuration file). Let us know if you'll have any questions about particul...

Re: LTO9 Slow Speed and performance settings

There's a performance limitation doing SPTI (SCSI Pass Thru) which is the method we use go access physical tapes on Windows from a user-mode app which StarWind on Windows is. SPTI does one command per time (no queue!) in a sync way, so numbers you're seeing are pretty good actually FOR THIS PARTICUL...

Re: iSER_DM.dll causing VSAN to crash

FYI, we'll continue looking at this issue, but there's few things to know: (1) Standard way of delivering StarWind VSAN is VM (virtual machine ) now. There's NO performance drawbacks! Windows binaries are considered as a legacy way and have limited functionality. (2) iSER is deprecated pretty much, ...

Re: How to recover data from StarWind SANAS.

If you have more disks failed than your RAID can handle you won't recover your data, you'll have to restore from backups. It's no different from any other storage vendor on the planet. If for whatever reason you have no backups you might bring your disks to the recovery vendor and they could try to ...
