Re: Problem with Starwind v8

Benny,
I'm afraid, I have to ask you to send several latest files from /log directories of both HA nodes.
Please, also write approximate time when HA node disconnects the client initiator with following re-connection issues.

Fix for working with ESX 5.5 has been added, we'll update build on the web site after short testing.
Thank you!

Re: UI Bugs

Tim,
The chain is as follows:
Client OS - RDP Client - Remote Server OS with StarWind Console,
is it right?

What are versions of Client OS and Server OS?
Is it standard "Remote desktop connection" client from Windows?
We'll try to reproduce the issue.

Re: UI Bugs

The minimize/maximize buttons on the Starwind Management Console do not work. It's strange, is it in main window? Does this bug appears always or in some specific cases? Could you please send us a screenshot of the desktop with window? Type some text in Notepad and do File > Save. The dialog box sh...

Re: Device mount failed after upgrading from RC1 to RC2

We have found the source of the issue, and working to fix it.
We touched device header structure during last month, and it became incompatible with RC1. It will be possible to switch to new build from RC1 without losing data when fixes are finished.

Re: Async "WAN" Replication and the 2 channel requirement

We are preparing a new RC2 build with a lot of updates on asynchronous replication. It really doesn't require the second channel. Update will be published next week.

Re: multiple issues v8 rc

Starting from the last issue: do you have enough free disk space on disk C: on the machine where Management Console is running?
Could you please send logs from StarWind service? They are located in "c:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\logs" directory.

Most likely this functionality will not be available with the first release of v8, but it will be added in later updates.

Re: RC L2 Cache

Tank you, we'll investigate such scenario closer. The first thing that comes in mind ind this case is that disk subsystem is a bottleneck. When cache is full or doesn't contain required data, we still need to access disk. Sequential disk reads or sequential disk writes are fast, but when we run both...

Re: Memory calculator/v8 is unrealistic

1. V6 will be supported after v8 release. 2. Yes, current implementation of LSFS does have such requirements. This is because it operates with much smaller blocks, 4kB vs 4MBs in thin provisioning of v6. LSFS supports larger block sizes, and memory requirements are significantly lower for LSFS with ...

Re: Disk Bridging Bug Report

I have reviewed the logs. Every write attempt ends with "The media is write-protected." error (code 19).
Could you please show also Windows Event log records? May be, there we'll find some clues to issues with locking device for read-write access.

Re: Dedupe .spspx keeps growing

We are working on functionality for executing defragmentation by user command. Also automatic defragmentation scheduler settings will be revisited later.

Please let us know, what kind of tasks are executed on your VMs? Is it SQL database, Web-server or mail server, some specific software?
