Re: Latest stable build(s)?

So far (one weekend) build 8198 seems stable. No performance lost and probably a tiny bit gained (we don't use LSFS so wouldn't have noticed any differences there).

Latest stable build(s)?

I am looking to update our production system and wanted to find some information regarding the latest builds. I am running build 7145, all thick images, LSFS turned off due to LSFS growth bugs. It took about 5 to 6 revisions to fix this issue (over 6 months at least) and therefore we have never upda...

Re: "Software RAID" ?

I would bet money "Software RAID" includes the Dynamic disks from windows. Software RAID controllers (S110 from Dell for example) also would count. Both of those are considered "software RAID".

Re: StarWind is fibbing re: synchronisation time

I just did a full synchronization in my lab using the latest beta build (20150216 dated); and the elapsed time seemed OK to me. Estimated even matched what I estimated after 2% and doing the math on current elapsed time.

Re: Dell R510 Setup Suggestions

I haven't done a hyper-converged setup yet; as my VMWare hosts are separate from the StarWind systems so I'll be generic. I'd follow the VMWare guide on configuring network as their guides are fairly decent. And then you would follow the StarWind guide for sync and heartbeat and VM access (their VMW...

Re: Replicating 1 drive between 2 servers in different sites

If you're just trying to do an HA setup over WAN (that is not at least 1gbps); then just setup the replication partner and point it to your DR site node as if it is local. Either it works or it doesn't. You can check your StarWind logs to see if there are any issues with timing, etc. Did you need th...

Re: How to avoid a full resync after a node reboot?

These are all valid points, but there was zero network usage and zero disk usage after shutting down the server.... Zero disk usage on the first node after you attempted to stop the StarWind service; and there was 0 disk and network activity for the hour it took before you did the hard shutdown? I'...

Re: How to avoid a full resync after a node reboot?

From looking at the setup; the only thing I find would be the culprit would be the 4 x 1gb; running VM traffic and SW Sync/Heartbeat. VM Traffic should be seperate from SW Sync. Are these individual links or did you team them together? Avoid teaming on the Starwind systems; and use multiple subnets/...

Re: How to avoid a full resync after a node reboot?

I assume two nodes? How much space provisioned into how many images/targets? I've found that having about 5.5TB provisioned into about 20 images of various sizes (none over 1TB); it will take the SW service on build 8.0.7145 about 30 minutes to shut off. This is with a two node system; no async targ...

Yea. I caution anyone with StarWind to never, ever, plan on taking both nodes down at the same time.. EVER. So does StarWind. :)

Re: System comes to a grinding halt on Sync

I find this happens in only one scenario: You had to tell one of the nodes that wasn't considered the master that this image IS the one to be the source for synchronization. Can you elaborate on what specifically happened and the steps you did to rectify (in your mind) the synchronization? The chron...
