Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Just saw that a new build was released on Friday. My main question:

- Does this fix the issue where LSFS with deduplication and L2 cache do not play nicely together?

OR

- If using L2 cache, should I still stick with a Flat Image file?

Thanks!

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

We are about to implement L2 cache. Can you please specify those scenarios?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

darklight - what build are you currently using in Production?

Thanks,

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

StarWind - any update on when you think the new build will be available? I thought it was supposed to have been released in September? It's really hard to plan implementations when we don't have a firm idea when to expect updates.

Thanks!

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Tera,

Can you or someone else at StarWind have an answer for these performance questions? Really hard to plan and implement a new HA system unless we know the best and StarWind recommended route to go. My project is on hold until then. Really need to get it started.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Yes - still have my two previous questions:

1) Better performance from:
a. LSFS without L2 cache?
OR
b. Thick Image with L2 cache enabled?

2) Timetable on new build release?

Thanks!

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

PS - I know the LSFS fix is in the build about to be released, but any timetable on when LSFS with L2 Cache enabled will be stable?

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Since #2 (L2 Cache with LSFS) is not 100% stable, which one of the remaining ones will give better performance?

1) Thick Image File with L2 cache?

OR

3) LSFS without L2 cache?

Thanks!

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Thanks Tera,

So to summarize, in the current production build:

1) L2 Cache with Thick Image file is stable

2) L2 Cache with LSFS is not 100% stable

3) LSFS without L2 Cache is stable

Is that correct?

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

Can someone from StarWind shed a little more light on this? This is holding up our SAN upgrade until we can get some definitive answers on LSFS/L2 cache stability, and how the version currently in beta will change things. Thanks! Jeff

Re: Is L2 cache now stable?

I'm a bit confused now with regards to the issues with L2 Cache. I was just reading this at the bottom of this different thread: https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4333 It mentions issues with LSFS but not L2 cache? So in the current production build, are there issues with L...

HA - will mutliple sync channels improve performance

We currently have a 10 Gigabit sync channel between our two HA nodes, but we have a spare 10 Gigabit NIC in each StarWind HA node. We are thinking of using the spare NICs as a 2nd sync channel between the two StarWind Servers. Can we specify using multiple sync channels, and will adding a 2nd 10 Gig...
