Key points of the webinar:

  • Proper IT infrastructure expansion with Dell DPACK
  • Understanding customer’s requirements with Dell DPACK
  • Dell DPACK report – full information on the IT infrastructure
  • Comparing reports with different Dell DPACK running time

Dell Performance Analysis Collection Kit is a free tool allowing to optimize spending and analyze opportunities for virtualization or data center expansion. It analyzes the system performance and collects actual information on the environment delivering a comprehensive report.

Dell DPACK helps to eliminate overspending by providing full system overview allowing to understand what equipment is exactly needed in order to expand it. The tool speeds up decision-making since it is much easier to decide what to buy with a full system analysis on hand. It identifies opportunities for virtualizing current servers and increases the utility of future IT investments. Based on the information provided by Dell DPACK it is easier to understand the requirements of the customer and prepare the solution that perfectly fits his needs.

DPACK report provides aggregated information on the system’s total storage capacity, total used and free capacity, the number of IOPS, read/write ratio, average amount of daily writes, the total number of cores and processors, total memory and total amount of VMs.

The report features different charts showing latency across the whole infrastructure, net CPU usage, used and free memory, number of write and read IOPS

DPACK additionally provides individual server reports with in-depth information on CPU clock speed, operating system, network information, capacity and performance information and individual local disk and shared cluster disk reports.

Dell DPACK can be set to run for a different time, however, it is recommended to run DPACK for at least one day to get the full and correct information on the system, as during the day there are various processes creating different workloads. This can be visible when comparing reports with different DPACK running time, where IOPS and read/write values will be significantly different.
