VMware Virtual Volumes (VVols) is an integration and management framework that exposes virtual disks as a primary unit of data management for storage arrays. It provides flexible and agile storage consumption for virtual machines by abstracting physical hardware resources into logical pools of capacity. VVols additionally provide finer control over the storage resources allowіng simple and dynamical provision of storage according to the VM needs. VMware VVols ultimately create a VM-centric infrastructure in which an individual VM, rather than a LUN, and its disks becomes a unit of storage management for a storage system.
