  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (with SP1 installed)
  • 2 GHz Intel Xeon class processor
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • 1 GB of free disk space to store application data and log files
  • Dedicated disk volumes
  • 1 or 10 GbE Ethernet (10 GbE is recommended)

StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V is a storage hypervisor that builds a reliable, fast, and easy-to-manage shared storage in the existing infrastructure, which makes this solution affordable for the small and medium-sized businesses.

StarWind found a spectacular way to save your money! We designed the revolutionary SAN configuration where the storage software is installed directly on the hypervisor servers.

Depending on the reliability level and uptime requirements, two or three existing Hyper-V servers are needed for the creation of a highly available storage cluster. Therefore, this configuration requires only half of the expected hardware (servers, switches, network cards, cabling) and provides tremendous cost savings.

How it works

StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V runs inside the parent partition where hypervisor is running, so no additional hardware is required for deploying a highly available Hyper-V cluster. StarWind creates a SAN from local disks of Hyper-V hosts. Therefore, you require

  • NO expensive SAN boxes
  • NO additional hardware

Triple SAN/NAS cluster – 99.9999% uptime of a Hyper-V infrastructure NEW

From now on, StarWind can synchronously mirror three nodes of an HA storage cluster. The system provides real-time replication of I/O requests, which ensures high availability and simultaneous updating of three distributed copies of data.

Thus, StarWind intensifies redundancy, totally eliminates a single point of failure, and provides 50% higher performance compared to 2-node clusters.

New StarWind Native SAN configuration enables 99.9999% uptime, tolerates double fault, and makes maintenance an easy task.

Clustered scale-out NAS NEW

StarWind provides integrated access to block and file-level data by means of unified SAN/NAS storage solution. StarWind supports multiple NAS protocols (NFS, CIFS, SMB) and enables the creation of a centralized storage pool that provides data availability and file sharing.

Therefore, StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V eliminates administrative overhead for the implementation and maintenance of two separated storage systems and substantially reduces relative storage and management expenditures.

Speeded-up asynchronous replication: N+1 Configuration NEW

The new version of the product provides off-site replication technology with advanced configuration options. With N+1 Configuration you can additionally secure your double or triple Hyper-V cluster with asynchronous replication of data to a remote disaster recovery (DR) site. This feature enables data restore in case of massive local disasters and guarantees business continuity.

StarWind provides highly effective WAN acceleration that allows for the use of slow and inexpensive network connections for off-site replication. Deduplication, compression, and snapshots technologies provide 50-100x decrease of WAN traffic and speed up asynchronous replication.

Data deduplication

StarWind introduces 100% winning combination for Hyper-V infrastructures – high availability on deduplicated target! With in-line target-side data deduplication, StarWind users save up to 90% of disk space. This sophisticated StarWind technology eliminates all repeated data, thereby cutting down the storage costs of your VMs and backups.

Hardware-agnostic approach and management simplicity

StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V is truly user-friendly storage solution that can be easily implemented within minutes. It uses any industry standard hardware and can be seamlessly integrated within your existing Hyper-V infrastructure without any additional costs.
StarWind also delivers a centralized management console and wizard-driven operations to ensure maximum simplicity for its users.

Storage aggregation NEW

With StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V, you can transform your existing NAS into a reliable iSCSI target without additional capital expenses.

StarWind aggregates NAS resources and iSCSI SAN potential to create multi-featured and affordable storage.

Windows Server 2012 Support NEW

StarWind designed a solution that works on the new platform. StarWind Native SAN for Hyper-V provides full support for Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V.
