John,
have you checked task manager, who is consuming the memory? Is it StarWindService.exe or system?

Hi,

I cannot see via task manager what is using the memory, the only thing I definetly know is that when I restart the starwind service the memory usage drops back down to normal levels.

Thanks

It looks like memory is consumed by Windows file cache. It releases memory, when file is closed. Unfortunately, it's size can't be controlled from application.
We are working on finding some other way to solve the problem with 4k block disk.

Can this be controlled/limited any other way?

Some sources claim that LargeSystemCache registry key can be used to tune file caching. But we haven't seen any difference.

For the benefit of the forums I've found the above has no real effect.

Starwind have confirmed this issue and have passed it to R&D to work on.

Hope a solution comes soon as this Iomega 4K drive is seriously fast and really want to get it in use!

Our developers report that they created a fix for this issue, currently it marked as submitted to our Q&A
I think the ETA for the fix is approximately 2-3 weeks. We'll update the post as soon as a fix is available for public download.

Amazing. Thanks for the update! Do you know what build number it will be fixed in so I can keep an eye on the current release?

We are not 100% about what number of build will it be, but it should be next release.

Also, I'm happy to test a beta of this if available and useful to you?

Hi,

I've just tried the latest version but it has not appeared to solve my issue. I still get a memory leak if I user the buffer command in the .cfg file.

I still cannot create a VMFS partition without having the buffer command in my cfg file.

Thanks

John

Can you please send us the log files and specify approximate time that we should look at?

Thanks
