How do I change the Password

Postby kervin » Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:17 pm

Hello,

1. The default password is 'test' and the default user is 'test'. How do we add a new user with a new password. The password values in the configuration file seem to be hashed.

2. How do we configure 'chap' authentication. When I've tried I get a 'CtlAuthMode' variable not found error. But that XML tag is in there and the value is set to 'chap'.

3. Is there a GUI or documentation for user management that we are missing?

Best regards,
Kervin

After searching google some more I can across this document...
http://www.starwindsoftware.com/images/content/StarWind_CHAP.pdf

I followed the instructions and also modified the password in the 'ibvss.cfg'. But when I select the 'connect...' menu item, the password is still 'test/test' not my new username and password. I have restarted both the tray/management program and the windows service. Where is the service storing this username and password???

Best regards,
Kervin

Kervin,

You would need to reboot the entire Windows machine to apply the changes, because StarWind also uses user/name and password stored in Windows system cache.

Thanks
