filesystem caching and refresh issue (windows)

Postby asddsa11 » Sun Oct 16, 2011 5:06 pm

Hello,

I read these 2 topics:
viewtopic.php?t=1392
post7917.html?hilit=refresh#p7917

but still haven't found a definitive answer!

I am trying to sync a vista pc with xp via lan.

Since lan sharing under windows is buggy I managed to successfully setup it through starwind / starport.

The problem is that once mounted, the discs is static. (changes on the server side are not reflected on the client)

Is there an easy way to make it dynamic?
From what I understood iscsi is not made for this..

I am also open to a partial solution! (I just need to reset the filesystem cache once everyday, so even a manual method would be acceptable!)
Thanks in advance!

You cannot do it with NTFS or FAT w/o external distributed lock mechanism. Issue has nothing to do with iSCSI itself. You cannot use a SAN as a NAS. They are totally different and designed for different things.
