Device Types

HI,

What are the drawbacks, if any, with using thin provisioning? Along those lines when is it best to use a .img device instead of a .ibv?

Thanks...Jim

Performance. Nothing comes and goes for free. So CDP housekeeping eats CPU cycles and bandwidth. Flat IMG is going to be 20-25% faster compared to IBV (using the same hardware). Mostly b/c CDP adds too much latency compared to raw disk I/O used with Disk Bridge and Image File.
