Asynchronous replication

Postby dkeathii » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:35 pm

I'm currently evaluating Starwind and can't seem to locate the procedure or options for asynchronous replication.

I set up a mirror with a remote starwind connected via 100mb ethernet as the target. It set up synchronous...writes to the main site are throttled at ~10MB/s, roughly the throughput of a 100mb/s link.

I've searched the site, forums, and documentation and don't see any procedures on configuring async replication. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

1. Asynchronous replication in the mirror plugin uses cache as a temporary storage during asynchronous writes. When the cache is full, write speed is limited to the speed of replication channel. If replication channel becomes unavailable, device marks remote mirror as invalid and writes only to the primary storage. It's required to run mirror synchronization to renew replication process when replication channel becomes operational again.

2. We are working on implementation of the new replication plugin with advanced functionality. It is optimized for working on slow and non-stable channels.
Best regards,
Alexey.
