Connect Windows 7 embedded to ISCSI target

Postby gico » Fri Jun 17, 2011 11:21 am

Hello everyone,
We have a webcam server with Windows 7 embedded,and we need to backup data to an external ISCSI device.
For this purpose we took an Iomega PX4-300R NAS, but on the Windows 7 Embedded the built-in initiator doesn't work, so we decided to use the StarWind initiator.

We have non success and we tried to install the S.W. initiator on some Windows 7 and XP Professional (where MS initiator works OK), but no one was able to connect to the NAS, or to another Iomega ix4-200D.

The error is:
"Session failed, status == 31!
6 / 17 12:43:46.951>> CStarPortAPI:: ~ CStarPortAPI ()
6 / 17 12:43:46.951 CWPPiSCSITargetSelection:: CreateDevice: Exception caught: Driver failure.

6 / 17 12:43:46.951 CWPPiSCSITargetSelection:: CreateDevice: Exception caught: Creation of the iSCSI device failed with all the addresses
supplied by the server. "

Maybe the is a issue with the Iomega target?

Thank you very much in advance for your support,
Giulio.

I'll ask you to reproduce the issue with the debug build of StarPort driver. To do this please do next:
1)http://www.starwindsoftware.com/tmplink/StarISCSI.5.5.Setup.20100310_debug.exe - download this and install it over your initiator
2)Reboot the machine
3)Download and Install DebugView
4)Run DebugView using Administrator account
5)Check in "Capture - Capture kernel" and "Capture - Enable verbose kernel output" checkboxes
6)Press "Capture" button (Ctrl+E)
7)Run initiator and reproduce the bug

Send us logs after. You can use my email - anatoly.vilchinsky at starwindsofware dot com

Also I think that since your Iomega hardware is NAS with iSCSI possibilities you may have need to perform some additional settings on it.
Regards,
Anatoly Vilchinsky
